Description:

Pending budgetary approval, Armstrong Atlantic State University is seeking a historian for a one-year appointment as Temporary Instructor of American History to begin August 2009. Course load is 4/4 and will consist of surveys and an upper division course. Preferred areas of specialization include African American and public history.

 
Qualifications:

Ph. D. preferred; ABD considered. The successful candidate will possess prior teaching experience at the college level.

 
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

The Department: The faculty of the Department of History (14 full-time history faculty and one historical geographer) has an accomplished record in teaching, research, and community service, and embraces the ideals of a liberal and professional education. The faculty of the department is responsible for administering the department's degree programs and also providing core curriculum courses for the university. The department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history and a Master of Arts degree in history with concentrations in American, European, and Public history.
